ANTIQUE REDDISH BROWN glazed STONEWARE JUG incized ring OHIO FARM- $37
I have listed items for sale on eBay for over 15 years, and I thought I had “the basics” pretty much figured out. However, I learned how to do something this morning that will save a LOT of work while, at the same time, produce even better images. I’ll let you in on it, but first, let’s have a quick look at this delightful old country jug.
Oh! Yes. . . What I learned. It may not sound aggravating, but it has annoyed me for 15 years. Since I don’t normally wash, clean or even dust the antique things I sell, I find that after taking the photographs on a clean white cloth or piece of paper, there are almost always little “dirt spots” or “crumbs” showing in my photo. So, I have to cut them out with tedious little “cutting and pasting.” I don’t want to see them, and you don’t either. The solution? . . . .
. . We got 4” of clean white snow last night. Since I don’t wear shoes except on Wednesdays, I found I could stand on the back step, lean out and place the item in the fresh clean show. Works like a charm.
Years ago, I could have “written” the name of the item right there in the snow, in yellow, without even getting off the step, but I’ve gotten older and can’t do that anymore.

VINTAGE 1950's MARX SAND & GRAVEL streamlined sandbox DUMP TRUCK RED- $56
I don’t think it ever had a mechanism for dumping the bed. I never had one myself. We were country folks, so we made our own toys out of sticks, mud and roots.*
*In the wintertime we walked to school in 3 to 4 feet of snow – uphill both ways – wearing nothing for shoes except old feed sacks wrapped around our feet, held in place with bailing wire – coats made of animal hides – always at risk of bear attacks and . . . Hang on a second. I accidentally made some of that up.
