Older ART GLASS Colorful TOUCAN Jungle BIRD Signed DAUM FRANCE, Jeanne Avery-$159 |
Jeanne Avery, yes the well-known and widely read astrologist, regression therapist, seer, world traveler, actress and friend, has taken ill and moved to much smaller quarters. I will be selling all the things that wouldn’t fit into her new place, and this delightful Toucan is the first piece. Later on today or tomorrow, I’ll be listing one of her favorite American primitive paintings – a still life of watermelon slices.

RANDOM 341 OBJECT
Vintage WEATHERVANE DIRECTIONAL w Bird, HOMING Sport PIGEON Silhouette & ARROW -$93
I guess people have been hiding something from me all my life. Did you know there is a breed of sporting pigeon called a Parlor Roller whose most outstanding characteristic is the ability to turn summersaults on the ground or across the big oriental rug in you parlor? It was bred to do that, but there were consequences, the most concerning of which is that supposedly lost its ability to fly.
They even have tournaments for these rascals. Fortunately I didn’t know about them back in the ‘60s. I’d have laughed myself to death.
I couldn’t sleep ‘til I found a video of a “Parlor Roller” competition on YouTube. There were a bunch of old coots “bowling” with their pigeons. But I must contain myself and get on with getting you interested in this weathervane directional. I think I’ll call it a “Parlor Roller Pigeon Weathervane.”
RANDOM AMERICAN THEOCRACY
quote-billionaire investor warren buffet, a critic of the proliferation of financial services and speculations in the united states, also poked fun at adam smith + his hallowed marketplace. instead of finding the "invisible hand" in strategems such as derivatives, he likened to "an invisible foot kicking society in the shins"(now he's say balls)

I believe it is aluminum, or at least some alloy that doesn’t attract a magnet. It’s probably at least fifty years old, possibly older.
That’s the same pigeon only now he’s headed east.
Length = 22” Height of Elmo = 8” (Yes. I named the bird “Elmo.” . . . . ) What?! Total Height = 14 ½”
If you know of a pigeon bowling tournament within driving distance of southwestern Ohio, give me a shout when the weather warms up. I’ve gotta see one.
I’ve been to the “Egg Fight” in Peters Hollow near Elizabethton, Tennessee several times. (I lived there off and on for years.) Now, in the sunset of my life, I know I can only be complete after witnessing these birds rolling along in the grass after being tossed by an old man. Look it up on YouTube. “Parlor Roller pigeons”
Again, that’s the same pigeon, but now Elmo is on his way to the new moon colony being proposed by a . . . well, , , let’s just say; “a person with a refined proclivity toward pander.”
