1887 GAR souvenir-we drank from the same canteen tin & felt 1907- $80
I’ve never seen another one of these scarce 2 ½” souvenir canteens with a round photo in the center. The portrait is George Washington, and the date of the encampment is December 6, 1887.”
It has remained in very nice condition with only minor issues. Part of the red cord is missing, and there is a tiny flake off the felt on the back. The photo has an almost invisible crease at its lower left - nothing serious or heartbreaking. Most things don’t even exist after 130 years.
