Oldest World War I veteran marks 112th birthday
CRANWELL, England (CNN) -- Britain's oldest man and the oldest living veteran of World War I was celebrating his 112th birthday Friday with a party and a fly-past at an air force base.

Henry Allingham is the last surviving member of the Royal Naval Air Service, which he joined in 1915. He saw action at the Battle of Jutland off Denmark the following year, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Allingham is also the last surviving founding member of the Royal Air Force, which was created in 1918, nine months before the end of the war. He left the service a year later, the defense ministry said.
Friday's events were happening at the Royal Air Force base in Cranwell, England, about 120 miles north of London. Friends of his at the base told CNN that Allingham, who arrived in a wheelchair, was looking "fresh."
After a birthday lunch, aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, an aerial display team, planned to fly overhead, the base said. Members of the Falcons Parachute Display Team then planned to drop in and present Allingham with a birthday card from the chief of Britain's air staff.
Allingham is Britain's oldest man and the oldest surviving member of the armed forces, according to Guinness World Records.
The former aircraft engineer still travels and makes public appearances at military events and commemorations.
In July 2007, Allingham had a private audience with Queen Elizabeth and attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace. In November, he laid a wreath in St. Omer, France -- where he was stationed during the war -- to celebrate Armistice Day, the end of World War I.
Allingham said last year he remains active to emphasize the importance of remembering the conflict.

MY eames puffer fish. so far have not seen it on ebay. did not buy it as eames, but i LOVES puffer fishies cause my grandma f had a poofed dried one hanging in her bathroom. i LOVED that fish. so, i get them when i find them and hey, if i stick toothpicks in the holes.....
then i discovered eames wood critters and $$$. too bad. IT'S MINE!

did i give a preview of my new landscape? i don't think so. had to take better pictures and dammit. needs 2 or 3 more leaves. and and and you ask, but why more leaves? i find the right side of the tree just not pleasing. i am happy with it. loved the sky. i pruposely was very free. same with the background leaves. with i had used a different brush for the tree, but otherwise ok with the straight line of the grass and background trees. eh. not great. but decent. fine attempt. may need to do something similar. horizontal. and less tree top. cropped. maybe. like the purple hear and there, but maybe it should have been blue on top.
was gonna post this after the leaves, but i forgot to take pics of something and i am saving the aztecies for another day.

RANDOM ESTATE SALE POST
i went to a HORRIBLE estate sale wed. must have been an altered house, but thinking maybe it was late 40's pre-ranch mod. that was awful enough. bad woodwork rather than house shifting i bet. the round arch was different. but GOOD LORD THE EXPLODING SHIT OF THE 70'S!!!!!. the horrid shags. just just awful. makeup and shit, so not a bachelor. lot of spices, UNUSED. horrible horible 'collectables'. jsust awful. i went in the basement. ad said fishing. FISHING??? 3 70's reels? the idiot kind we used as kids??? did find an old wood needle 'tube', but really! took some odd files i have never seen before. 1 for me, 2 for ebay.
ugh. just horrible. who lives like that? did the family take some stuff? or sold? uf da. probably couldn't AFFORD hummels. oy. just craptacular. nice stove tho. newer. BEEZARRE.

last week, i went digging in grandma's hoard. knew there was a box of baby boomer stuff. trucks. cars! so, yesterday i listed 2. cause they are heavy. so have to space them out. so, i listed the car/station wagon. if it had been a chevy el camino, my uncle wanted it. but no, it's a ford. what is a FORD one called?!? GOOGLE! ford car/truck-RANCHERO. DUH! in itty-bitty on the side. little issues, not perfect, but list at $9.99. and the hubley tractor loader w/box. WELL, before i went to bed at 2am, the ranchero had a bid and the hubley $13+. but but but it has 6 days! shit. the hubley is at $39. OH how i love baby boomers. must start listing more!!!
