ESTATE FIND - Antique TOOLS, BOX, CARRIER & LOTS MORE-$114

I can’t honestly say I know what this craftsman did, but the tools and parts and creations he left behind are about as much fun as anything I’ve run across in a very long time.

My main problem is: I know little to nothing about old woodworking tools, so you’re pretty much on your own. I’m show you lots of images. Some pieces have old, old tags, and a few have writing on them – in pencil.

If nothing else, we’ll have fun looking at them. There is even an old (but damaged) wood carving in there. I believe it is the wing of an Angel.

Most of the “flat” tools were in this old box when I found the hoard. It is 18 ½” by 14 ½” by almost 5” deep. One latch hook is missing, but that’s no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

There’s that handwriting I mentioned. I found this batch in Cincinnati, and we all know Cincinnati is primarily German – or was, way back when.

I guess one of the things he made is this little dovetailed divider/carrier. Sweet. It is 11 ¾” by 6 ¼” by 2”.

Great finial / knob!

The scroll is 15 ½” by 3” by a full ½” thick. The Angel wing with its broken end is still a wondrous object measuring 12 ½” by 4”.

PAIR Antique CHINESE EXPORT TUREENS, Roses, BUTTERFLIES-$51

I had to make a choice:
One: Comb through my tired brain trying to remember all those “Rose” Chinese Export patterns.
Two: Spend the morning looking at Famille Rose , Rose Medallion , Rose Canton , Verte , and all those others;
Or third: Throw caution to the wind and let y’all decide. All I really know is that they are quite old.

They are about as close to identical as any early handmade, hand painted, Chinese Export pieces could be, with one exception. One has chips – the other does not.

Nice, huh? The lip inside makes me think both were once lidded, but I could be wrong. The important thing is that they are real, and they are old, and they are a decorative as all get-out.
