Preston, Connecticut covers a lot of ground, but it is sparsely populated. The population today is around 4,700 souls scattered around on their 31 square miles. Back in 1846, when someone with the initials “M. A. S.” carved then paint decorated this rare piece, about 1,800 folks lived in the area. It is just east of Norwich.
