I believe these for sale here were part of a 19th Century water filtration system, which became obsolete, the stones released to make their way south in the slow moving waters of the Chattahoochee River. Most ended up in the mud banks of the river where they wound up in the hands of treasure hunters. I’ve not heard of folks finding them for several years. I wonder if they are still to be found. No matter. By any measure, they are rare, or at least very scarce.
