BIG ANTIQUE SAMPLER W/ BIRDS & WOMAN C 1840- $1,225

Upon the untimely death of Gary Buskirk Chumley of Bloomington, Indiana this past December, all easily accessible history of this sampler was lost. Gary had the information in his head. However, as with most all the other antiques in the home, it descended through the Buskirk family. Therefore, we know it was created in either Indiana or Pennsylvania. While searching papers and family records, we became somewhat certain the schoolgirl’s name was “Sarah,” but it is a fact without clarity. The history of the family is easily available, both on the Internet as well as through the Monroe County History Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
