341 OBJECT

ANTIQUE CHAIR- H J LINTON paris FRENCH RENAISSANCE revival- $51

From time to time I run across a piece of furniture with the unique ability to feel right at home in a wide variety of environments. This is such a piece.

en though its fine turnings and deeply carved panel at the crest rail echo the preferences of 16th and 17th Century France, the rich oak, straight lines and sturdy profile are in keeping with design standards of the Arts & Crafts Movement. Moreover, these same characteristics work well as that one special piece in a room full of American country – a wink at the joiner stools and tables used by our Pilgrim Fathers.
