Tacitus tells us that there was anciently in rome, a law specifying the crimes of "lese-majeste". that crime carried w/ it the punishmenr OF DEATH. under the roman republic TREASONS were reduced to fours kinds, viz: abandoning an army in the country on an enemy(DING DING DING- he left the army in afghanistan to play 10 little indians, while he sent in the rest to iWaq); exciting sedition; the MALADMINISTRATION of the PUBLIC treasury(DIG DING DING- TAX cuts to the RICH in a time of war, etc etc etc); and the impairment by INEFFICIENCY of the majority of the roman people(DING DING DING-1 full year of vacationing, etc etc etc).
