RANDOM ESTATE SALE BLOGGING

luckily my madison epal and he had a furlough day and he sort of enjoys estate sales. it's almost a weird amusement. both house post WW2 blah. 1st was tiny. first spotted an old 1936 hydrant. walking up. has set up a sewer grate on a table base. could put a fire pit or flowers in it. had a nice little love seat in the driveway. very comfortable. lots of chairs and a podium in the garage. no place for a cheap settee tho. went inside the back door. basement 1st. OOH, a MIGHTY WURLITZER! NFS buried in the corner. AND a player piano. no good tool or anything. OOH, what's that? and old entertainment center. nice case. open. no teevee. a record player(looked broken and a radio. took forever to see the GENERAL ELECTRIC. wait? where are those staytions? WORLD BAND! PARIS! up stairs 1st the kitchen. my ebay money spot. found the 'greek' plate for a present. a chip, but $1 is good. and a complete horn hand meat carving set! EBAY! i guesses catholic in the basement, had some saint figures on the work bench. going to the bedrooms, linoleum! CATHOLIC! more crap, but i spotted soome photos in a box. went thru them. found a few interesting moments. shame the 2 nuns isn't in focus.

well. lunchtime. 1st we spottes steve's on blumound's bar & grill. saw my barefeet 1st. no entrance there. their loss. got on 60th/hawley, did i mention his new navigator thingy? very insistent that we went the wrong way. we got past main st and construction by the old torn up sam's club/CBS/58. gravel turned into dead end. no exit. go back. fooey. but went east on main to the cool little loop on the edge of the veterans cemetery. went back west on main street. not far we spotted another bar + grill. ugly mug. sign said the BEST hamburger in milwaukee. well, we have to try THAT place. at first she said no barefeet, but could set up the patio, then changed her mind. later a big german shepherd came in shedding. but gorgeous dog. they had a 3/4 hamburger! yikes. i figured i can't eat a whole one. i had fries. ryan got the cheeseburger. he gave me 2 bite size no cheese piece. i must say it was very good! fries only so-so and not heintz ketchup. had a pleasant chat w/ an older guy at the bar.

the 2nd one in brookfield, but easy to get to. the gamin(?) thing told us what i said we should take. tho the sale road did not go to greenfield. found the sale. 1st day. lots of cars. nearly got run over by a van backing out of the driveway. but they were slow. went in the garage. nothing wanted there, went in the side door. basemen 1si. treadmill, nice area rugs. 1 older red/blue/black turkish? lots of psychiatry books on a shelf. oh, clue to jewish in the garage-driedle(sp). nothing in the basement. back to the room between kitchen + garage. the back wall which continued into a hall was painted a deep cobalt blue. very nice. i grabbed the african carved head. painted paints meh. nice glass piggie bank. nah. had to go thru a box of postcards. look like photos. artsy french ones. i got 10@ 50¢ea. off to back bedroom. 1 nothing much ,but had to check out a domino. tightly wedged into the box. the made in china label on the bottom vintage. finally got one out. pretty sure dyed wood stamped on both sides. maybe hand painted dots. $1? take! other bedroom blah, but corner table had goodies. i wanted a mosaic wood box, but $3. got the bird straw box. i have a collection. left the pretty mosaic box. next room a office. OOH, a kohlkoma spoon + bowl! EBAY! lots of ties. nice suit coats. ryan did not like the weaves. bah, that's a nice hounds tooth! and a nice wool plaid. off to the kitchen. box of silver and such. OOOOH, i don't have any of those! i forgot what it was. i thought seafood. no, butter or nut pick. go thru the dinning room. the furniture sold. the dinning chair was very comfy. nice wood. 80's. and open plan sort of to living room. jewelry table. blah HEY! KOHLKOMA PIN! i snagged that. oh, i forgot about the little early 1900 or older little bookcase for $45. found a book on abnormal psych stuff. looks amusing. paid more than usual, but selling the russian stuff + the dominoes should make it free shopping! i will have to blog the postcards + photos soon.
