See the original drilled holes? I suppose a half naked lady in spelter or bronze was once mounted there – holding a lamp high in the air with one arm. By the way, I should tell you I added the brass chain threaded through the original holes in those big balls that surround the top. I liked the idea, though it may have had “cord and tassels” originally. I just simply don’t know.
