DULAS, MICHAEL- greek historian under constatine XII, 1450ish, b + death unknown. illustrious family, some emps, said to have held high office at constatine XII's court. after fall of constantinople(ISTANBUL!), he was employed in diplomatic missions by princes of lesbos, where he went until 1462, when it was taken + annexed to turkey by sultan mahomet II, D survived, but he has no record after. his history started w/ death of john palaeologus, to the capture of lesbos. prelim chron from adam to john P, but done by later writer. although barbarous in style, it is judicious + trustworthy + valuable source for the end of the greek empire + spoke turkish.

DUCHESNE, ANDRE(latin-DUCHENIUS or QUERCE-TENUS) 1584-1640. french geographer + historian. 'father' of french history. educated in his earliest years devoted to historical + geographical research + his 1st work Egregariarum sen selectarium liber, pub when 18. patronage of cardinal richelieu, appointed histiographer + geographer to the king. died getting run over by a carriage. published a lot + varied. blah blah geneology
