RANDOM ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA POST

CROMWELL, OLIVER- lord protector of the british commonwealth. b 1599. his father robert cromwell, the 2nd son of sir henry cromwell, connected to the earl of essex, thomas cromwell, ridgid + pius education in grammar school. went to college on death of father at 17. married 1620 to elizabeth, daughter of sir james bourcher.. 10 years of farming, blah. 1628-seat in house of commons. sold his lands, 2 years later. 1636 moved to ely. taking land of his ucle. blah blah blah 'lord of the fens'( public draining, royal interference) 1640 parliament session. disolved. "long parliament" rupture and revolt. 1542 charles fled. crom 43, took armor, w/ son oliver at his side, took sword against king. gathered volunters. seized the magazine in cambridge casyle + prevented the university plate being taken to fund the royals. puritan. blah blah. little tolerance.
