SATURN'S DAY SCHLITZ BLOGGING

jon's fucked up greek key. now, you are gonna say. fucke up? it's beautiful. yeah NOW. ok, tho he claimed to be an 'artist', jon had a problem with everything being rather muddy. like that dragonfly with dark jewels. couldn't get 'value'. so, GORGEOUS top glass with reds in the golds and just beautiful top, but you could barely see the 'key' at all, SO, what did pansypoo have to do? put it back on the block, take out the key to be recut in a lighter glass. luckily my dentist had given me a few of those denitil pics and it helped tremendously.

of course, didn't have to do it much on his. shame, he did a wonderful hydrangea and the fucking shipping truck ran over it. wish i had picks of the before and after.
since forgot before and all the poppy shades have been done. and back to 'repair'. one day left work. got one of the moster big poppy's off the block. put the ring in and leveled. boss lady said she would solder it. well, come in the next morning and the shade is on the block and the top look like a bomb hit it.
no, she hadn't soldered the inside of the ring to give it strength and had started to solder it and the shade fell off the ring. luckily not many of the lower pieces had to be replaced. but had to figure out where all the loose pieces went and what had to be recut and well, i rather enjoyed it case it was something different and i like puzzles. ever piece was embedded in my mind, so bring out the pattern sheet. lay them out. match glass and just start rebuilding it. no biggie. for me. and that is how lessons are embedded. i once forgot to put the locking ring we used to hold them for soldering tight enough. whoops. broke a piece or 2 on the arrowroot, but easily fixed. never happened again.

this WAS one of my favorite shade when finished. best greek key for sure. did i mention how tedious it was wrapping the copper foil on them? actually any geometric. but quick work. and better than a bloody cherry blossom. or was it apple blossom?

Comments:
It is beautiful. A long, strange trip there. Thanks for the tale, it enhances the piece.

well, it was more fun doing something different. but tedious. wait til i post the beastliest of shades i worked on. i KNOW why tiffany stopped making shades that shape!!!
