RANDOM BOOK POST

hey dale, have you read 'making of the prefident, 1797'? i think it's by marvin kitman. great book about george washington. read his earlier one too. 'GW's account book'. history with a twist.

i DO recommend these books to everybody. maybe if everybody was a little tipsy all the time we would be in a better place.

No. I've never been very interested in biographies.

I'm not even sure of what was the last book I read. Up until about 20 years ago I read about 3 books a month. Now just a handful a year. It's a struggle to keep up with the periodicals even as I cut back on them.

Did you ever find the Western Tradition series? No reading required.

oops, forgot about it.

and the first book is a humorous(VERY FUNNY) look at the first run for the prefidency. 2nd book is similar. not really a bio. just looks into how much booze our founding father drank! heck, shows george washington was very very lucky. he just handled it better that the current george w.
make note of western tradition. what were those about again?

A series of 52 half hour lectures covering the history of the Western world. Produced by PBS and WGBH around '89. Don't remember when I first saw it. It seems to run almost constantly here, usually about 05:00.
I've never felt comfortable with "Tradition" in the title. He explains it in the first lecture, but I don't get it.

hmm, i have been a lifelong PBS kid. never heard of it. semi local?
i think your library probably has the kitman books. think that's how i found the encyclopedia of american scandal.
i loaned the prefident book(paperback on sale at B&N) and my aunt 'conveniently' lost it. i think she was pissed at how kitman trashed washington. sometimes she doesn't have a sense of humor.

hmm, maybe i should re-read it next.

google The Western Tradition

A veritable ickypoo-load of references will show up.

library might have it. but but but i need to see the doc on the planet. so little time.....
