CARAWAY- the fruit, or so called seed, of Carum carui, an unbelliferous plant, occuringthru N and central europe and asia. blah blah the mericarps being cylindrical, slightly arched and marked w/ 5 pale ridges. C's evoke a pleasant aromatic odor w/bruised and they have an agreeable spicy taste. blah.....compound of carvol (a liquid isometric w/ the menthol of speramint) and carvene. cultivated in norway, finland, russia, germany, holland, and morocco. carawan comfits?
