CALLOT, Jacque 1593-1634. french engraver. ran away at 12. poor, but hoping to study art. joined bohemians. taken back at 14. ran away again at 16 and much travels, became master.

CALVART, Denis-1555-1619. flemish painter. landscapes, then went to bologna to study anatomy and his work became more italian.
