RANDOM ENXCYCLOPEDIA BRIT POST

filled another piece of scrap paper.

ANITQUE-well, in 1891, only old rome/greek stuff was 'antique'. even egyptian stuff or mayan didn't count. so you KNOW regular old stuff was not quite valued. imagine what was just thrown away or burned.

ANTISEPTIC-oh boy was this an odd entry. not considered what was sanitary, AND Lister(listerine!) and Pasteur were just coming out with their 'innovations'! was quite interesting to see how things were seen back then.

ANTISTHENES- founder of the cynic school 300b.c. he wasn't the brightest back then apparently, or was it just his parentage? got 1+ page.

other is 2 artists i was to look up. Antonello Da Messina 1400's. and hans Antonides (Jan Vander Goos).

Comments:
Roman and Greek stuff was art and culture. Egyptians and Mayans and their stuff were just curiosities.

Regular old stuff was used until it wore out or given to the servants who used it until it wore out.

and look at 'antiques'now.
of course i also use my antiques. well, the blood stained or heat embroidered pillowcases. and the 20's copper space heater in the tiled bathroom. and my nut(coffee) coffee grinder. the post WW1? 'office shears. but most are for daycore. ooh, i forgot the 20's deco toaster! my $5 choo choo toaster from the 'up nort' flea market. the cottage toaster died and i was sent to get a toaster. saw others, but this one i liked and was cheaper. i think i am gonna have to do some pics of the best of these. gotta do the grinder. and the shears!
