RANDOM BRITISH ORATION POST

just says his name was eliot-1628(opposition during charles the 1st)
-, our disorders still remain our greatest dangers. It is not now so much the POTENCY of our enemies, as the weakness of ourselves, that threatens us, non tam potentia sua quam negligentia nostra(this and my EBs assume i can speak greek, french, latin, and german). our want of true devotion to Heaven, our insincerity(i am talking to you talibornagains) and doubling in religion, our want of councils, OUR PRECIPITATE ACTIONS, the insufficiency, or unfaithfulness of our generals abroad, THE IGNORANCE OR CORRUPTION of our ministers at home, the IMPOVERISHMENT OF THE SOVERIEGN, the EXHAUSTING OF OUR TREASURIES,the WASTE of our provisions, consumption of our ships, DESTRUCTION OF OUR MEN- these make the advantage to our enemies, not the reputation of their arms. and if in these there not be reformationm we need no foes abroad! time itself will ruin us.

emphasis mine.

back to that 2nd estate sale and all the blown glass. did i say it was quite BAD blown glass? umpteen clowns, fruit, paperweights(very ugly).and, oh, it was just too terrible to catalogue. and people around me were spending around $100. one dealer snagged a vintage lamp maybe worth $, but the lady in front of me spent more on mainly crap. jeez. even the large blown glass rooster was bad.
