What did ya do with the squirrel? Is it in one of those Havahart catch-n-release traps? Usually, after you catch em, you have to drive em more than a few miles to release them or they will come back. Like racoons. I've done it a lot of times. Cept not so much with with squirrels... too many of them and there is always more where that one come from... but another thing that works is placing mothballs inside the walls if you can do it. They don't like that at all. I put mothballs in among my tools and garden supplies etc in winter to keep em away from anything they'll chew up. Especially plasitc and stuff like that which they seem to enjoy destroying just for the hell of it.

Ya know... if they are in your wall, and you hear em in there... you can try to drill a hole in the wall and scewer the bugger! I saw it on "This God-damned House" which was a very popular tv program several years ago.
