FREISHTA, MOHAMMED KASIM- celebrated persian historian. b 1570ish at astrabad, one of the caspian sea. while still a child, his father summoned away to hindustan, where he was a high office deccan; by his influece, the young F recieved a court promotion. in 1589 F removed to bejapore, where he spent the remander of his life under the protection of the shah ibrahim add II, who engaged him to write a history of india. at the court of adil he died 64ish.
in the introduction to his work, a 'resume' is given of the history of hindustan prior to the mahometan conquest, + also of the arabs thru the east. the 1st 10 books are each occupied w/ a history of the kings of one of the provinces. #11 gives an account of the mussulmans of malabar; #12 history of the saints in india. the conclusion the geography + climate of india. F is reputed 1 of the most trustworthy 1 of the oriental historians, + his work still maintains a high place of authority. several portions of it have been translated into english.
FERMANAGH- ireland county. blah blah BLAH blah. history + antiquities. according to Ptolemy, the aboriginies of this place were the Erdini. by the ancient irish it was called feormagh- or 'the country of the lakes'. eanagh,(lit-the mountain-valley-marsh district + also magh-uire, or "the country of the waters" it was divided into 2 large portions- the 1 called turgoll, the othr rosgoll. the latter was OCCUPIED by the guarii, the ancestors of the macguires or maguires, a name still very common. this tribe or family was so influential that for centuries the county was called after them macguires country, + one of the towns still existing bears their name. F was 1 of the 6 counties w/ reverted to the crown at the time of the flight of the earls of tyrone + tyrconnell, + which were included in the well known scheme of colonization of james 1, the plantation of ulster. among the principle scotch = english settlers at the period of th plantation were sir stephan butler, sir wm cole, jogn archdall, + sir gerard lowther, from whom, some of thetowns + villages derived their names. descendants from those form the leading gentry to 'today'. during the revolution of 1688 F rendered signal service to william II's cause. by the gallant stand w/ its yeoman made against the irish army, + their descendants posses so much of the military spirit of their forefathers. as to make the title "fermanagh men". still synonymous w/ bravery + loyalty to the constitution. in 1689 battles fought between will II's army + the Irish under maccarthy(for james II). the chief place or antiquary is the devenish isle in lough erne, it has 80 acres of pasture, romantic + ecclesiastic ruins. 6th c abby, round tower. abbey of st mary. molaisse or molugh. danish vaths + tumuli. at wattlebridge a druidic temple.
